I have witnessed the strong cascades of this waterfall and braced its muddy trail thrice. I have to admit, it’s always an unforgettable and fun experience.

Maapon Falls, Lucban, Quezon, Philippines
I learned about Maapon Falls in 2014. No detailed blogs about how to get here existed before so I really had a hard time researching. My last resort was using hashtags #Maapon and #Hangga on Instagram. I saw few profiles who have visited the place and thankfully, one of them replied after I messaged them for directions.

📜✏️ Tips/Reminders:
📌This waterfall is also known as Hangga or Asana Falls.
📌The trek takes about 1 – 2 hours depending on your pace but it may take longer if it’s muddy during rainy season.
📌Check the weather first. Expect rain during monsoon season (June-February). You won’t be allowed to get close to the waterfall if the current is too strong.
📌Always observe the LNT principles.

Maapon Falls, Lucban, Quezon, Philippines
My second visit was when I organized a chasing waterfall travel event here and in Hulugan Falls of Luisiana. My joiners surely enjoyed our trip albeit having an exhausting itinerary since we covered two major waterfalls in just one day.

During my last visit in 2017, I was surprised to see that majority of the path has been cemented so it’s no longer a struggle trekking even if it’s raining. A muddy trail is simply now out of the question. The only downside is that barangay officials still won’t allow you to get close to the waterfall if the weather is inclement which would result in possible flash floods.
