BATAAN [Limutan and Ambon-Ambon Falls]

Limutan Falls, Bagac, Bataan, Philippines
I had a minor accident to get to this huge log. I almost broke a finger when I slipped and fell into the water. But I guess that’s the price I needed to pay to get an awesome photo like this.

It was February and the rainy season due to the monsoon was still at its peak. So what’s the best option? Chasing waterfalls! It was my friend’s idea to visit these natural gems in Bagac, Bataan.

We had a side trip to Mt. Samat that morning before heading to visit these waterfalls. After we logged our names at the barangay hall, we hopped on a tricycle to get to the end of the concrete road. We commenced our trek from there. Our driver would just pick us up at the agreed time in the afternoon.

We first went to the top of Ambon-Ambon Falls. Our guide said that it’s possible to get below the waterfall and bathe in its cascade but it would take hours via a different trail.

Who wouldn’t want to stay in this natural infinity pool overlooking the wilderness? Just don’t get too close to the cliff or you’ll end up falling into the big boulders beneath.

After our quick pictorial, we went to our next destination. We trekked for a few minutes to reach this waterfall. The only thing that saddened me when we arrived was when I immediately saw the pieces of garbage in the area. It’s pretty much obvious that this is a picnic ground for visitors. It would have been a nice place to unwind but I hope the LGU does its job in protecting the place. As much as we want to remind people not to litter, there are still irresponsible ones who don’t care about our environment.

Please do not imitate what I did in this photo. It’s way too dangerous. It’s a hundred-foot drop after all.
