Alibijaban Island, San Andres, Quezon, Philippines
This island became as one of the most famous beach getaways in 2015 and 2016 since the expenses to get here are quite cheap. The land travel may be relatively long but a weekend is already enough to explore Alibijaban of Quezon Province.

One way to see what this island has to offer its visitors is by renting out a boat and asking the locals for cool snorkeling spots where you can see Alibijaban’s marine biodiversity.
Alibijaban Island, San Andres, Quezon, Philippines
My first visit in the island was part of our itinerary for our Alibijaban-Burias adventure leg in 2015. We already spent one night in Sombrero Island in Masbate and we headed to our campsite in Alibijaban after seeing Dapa Island. We quickly pitched our tents and had lunch at a nearby eatery. We had to wait because it was still high tide. When the level of the water was already low enough for us to walk through the mangrove area, we decided it’s about time to see the sandbar.

We had our socials in the evening, drinking and sharing stories. When it was time for lights out, most of us just slept on the sand below the myriad stars stretched across the sky.

The next morning, we hopped on our boat as our guides toured us around the island. On board our boats, we stopped by the beach near the mangroves. I would have wanted to swim but this portion of the island was full of jellyfish. I’ve had enough. My mood the day before was already ruined when I was stung by some jellyfish in Burias. We then capped off our trip at one of the snorkeling spots a few hundred meters from our campsite.

It was one weekend of summer vacation when my friend and I decided to revisit Alibijaban. We joined an organized travel event and since it was year 2019, I was already expecting to see a crowded Alibijaban Island during our trip. My hunch was right after all.

If this island is just near Manila, I’m pretty sure I would always visit it for a quick getaway from the busy city life. Besides, spending a night here wouldn’t break the bank.
