⏺ Ride a bus from Metro Manila bound for Santa Cruz, Laguna (e.g. DLTB in LRT Taft-Buendia).
⏺ Alight at Olivarez Plaza (travel time: 1.5 – 2 hours depending on traffic condition).
⏺ Ride a jeepney bound for UP Los Baños campus.
It was a day trip with one of my friends from the travel community. We met up at dawn in LRT-Buendia and got on a DLTB bus en route to Los Baños. We arrived at the jump-off going to Dampalit Falls before sunrise then trekked for a few minutes but the waterfall, to our dismay, was dried up. We didn’t want to go home empty-handed. It was still early after all. Our fallback was visiting University of the Philippines Los Baños.My uncle was a professor in UPLB and my cousins studied here so I was pretty much familiar with this campus of UP. I was still in high school when I first set foot in UPLB. I was attending my review classes for UPCAT during that time and my review center was located just outside the campus. My classmates and I used to chill and hang out at Freedom Park.I’m used to the crowded and polluted streets of Faura and Pedro Gil of UP Manila but I wonder what my college life would be if my campus was UP Los Baños. But for someone who grew up in a rural place, I wanted a change of atmosphere that’s why I chose the fast-paced busy life of the metro.UP Los Baños is one of the side trips you may consider if you’re checking out some attractions in Laguna. That day of our visit to Dampalit Falls, at least my friend and I didn’t go home totally disappointed as these Instagrammable spots inside this campus saved us.
