After our epic adventure in the paradise municipality of Balabac in Southern Palawan, my friends and I still had one free day before our flight back to Manila so we decided to visit nearby beaches and go on a tour of Puerto Princesa City. 📍Nagtabon Beach
🇵🇭ADVENTURE PRIMER🇵🇭
⏺ Take a plane from Metro Manila to Puerto Princesa City, Palawan (e.g. Cebu Pacific, Philippine Airlines and AirAsia).
⏺ Hire a tricycle to San Jose Terminal.
⏺ Ride a bus bound for Sabang, Roxas or El Nido then alight at Bacungan (travel time: roughly 30 – 45 minutes).
⏺ Charter a tricycle or motorcycle that will take you to the beaches.
⏺ Alternatively, you may hire a motorbike or rent a car in Puerto Princesa and drive on your own. You may also hire a van if you are traveling with a group.
📌This serves as a side trip if you have ample time before your flight back to Manila.
📌Van/SUV for hire: Kuya Edward Tuvilla (09271612401/09213831037)
To save on time, we rented a car since there were five of us. After breakfast, we had a quick trip to Plaza Cuartel and Mitra’s Ranch then bought some pastries at Baker’s Hill. 📍Talaudyong BeachIt was past lunch time when we went on a road trip to some beaches of Puerto Princesa that we saw online. 📍Nagtabon BeachAfter less than an hour on the road, we finally reached this first beach on our list for the day, Nagtabon Beach. We quickly noticed a number of tourists chilling out under the shade of trees fronting the beach. Most of them were foreigners. No one among us suggested to take a swim as the sun was too harsh and our skin was already burnt from our Balabac trip.We walked a few meters until we found this spot shaded by trees inside the bamboo fence where we could rest.My friend set up his drone so we could get some bird’s-eye view shots.By the way, the sand of Nagtabon Beach is not as creamy or white as some of the beaches you can find in Palawan. The sand granules here are fine and another good thing is that you won’t find any obstruction such as seagrasses or rocks by the shore if you want to take a swim. After taking some more photos, we agreed it was time to go.We drove up the hilly and winding road en route to the view deck overlooking Nagtabon beach. We stayed here for a couple of minutes to have some snacks by the “sari-sari” store (Filipino version of a retail store) before heading to our next stop.
This next beach is a few kilometers farther from Nagtabon. We parked by the concrete barangay road and walked through the unpaved track leading to this beach called Talaudyong. There were no other tourists when we reached this beach except for a handful of locals having a picnic near the shore. As you can see in these pictures, Talaudyong Beach is actually almost similar to Nagtabon in terms of sand quality which both get that orange hue depending on the strength of the sunrays and the time of the day. Even the lush mountain on my right this photo of Talaudyong is somehow akin to that of Nagtabon. We then took a breather under this shade by the small estuary. After we were satisfied with the shots we took, we returned to where our car was parked and headed back to the city. It was late afternoon when we arrived at our accommodation. We capped off our Palawan adventure leg by having a feast at Kinabuch Grill and Bar in the evening. It was indeed a memorable fun-filled trip.
