Metro Manila METRO MANILA [University of the Philippines Diliman] / I could still remember my days in the university whenever I needed to go to University Library in Diliman because our library in UP Manila does not have adequate quality books for our research assignments. Boy was it too much of a hassle because it felt like entering a jungle when I would go to Quezon City since I was not yet familiar with jeepney and FX routes in QC back then. My high school friend who graduated from UP Diliman had some errands in her alma mater that so I tagged along. I brought my camera and thought of doing a photowalk inside the campus.📍Jorge B. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center It’s been years since I graduated but this was actually my first time to stroll leisurely and take photos inside Diliman campus. It rained that day so we took refuge here inside Jorge B. Vargas Museum and Filipiniana Research Center. We checked out some exhibits inside and waited out until the drizzling stopped. I asked my friend if we could wait until evening for my photo session so we killed time by checking out the Oblation statue at the University Ampitheatre where commencement ceremonies of Diliman students are being held. I would never forget my ordeal in this very concrete road when I was still a first year student taking Physical Fitness. Our final exam was to complete the 5-km run at Diliman’s oval. I was not yet into running or hiking at that time so it was obviously a nightmare for a couch potato like me. My friend and I had a side trip to UP Shopping Center. I had always wanted to buy a UP hoodie. Imagine, I never owned one when I was still a student of the university and I am already an alumnus when I got one. Early in the morning or even during sundown, you will notice tons of people jogging here. The picturesque trees dotting the oval create a comforting atmosphere. I’m glad I brought my tripod with me so I could capture my long exposure shots that day. If you need some fresh air to have a break from the bustling urban life, you may consider UP Diliman to hang out. Just make your way to Philcoa or EDSA-Quezon Avenue to catch a jeepney bound for UP Diliman. You can also try out dining at some of the restaurants at Maginhawa which is just a tricycle ride away from PHILCOA. ***For other destinations in Metro Manila, you may visit this link.
