The bus left the terminal in Davao City at 1:00 in the morning. There were only a few passengers inside. I slept in between stop-overs hoping that I would be awake by the time I was about to get off the bus. But I still reminded the bus conductor to drop me off at the integrated terminal of Prosperidad just to be sure.

It was 6:00 AM when the bus reached the town proper. I alighted right away and had breakfast at a small eatery. After negotiating with a tricycle driver, I hopped on the vehicle and off we went to the jump-off. When we reached the barangay, I had to transfer to a motorcycle because the tricycle won’t be able to maneuver through the rough road. My motorcycle driver Jerome, together with his cousin Archie also served as my guides to the waterfall since I was traveling alone. When we arrived at the jump-off, I asked Jerome if I could leave my stuff with him as Archie would be coming with me to the falls. I was well aware that we would be trekking and I could not afford to carry my 12-kilo backpack due to my jaw disorder and spine problem. Even walking on a flat surface with my heavy bag for longer periods of time feels like hell on my back. Jerome wanted to accompany me as well so Archie just offered that he would be carrying my backpack. Up until now, their generosity is still fresh in my memory.

After quickly taking photos at the main cascade, I got this one last shot of the lower tier before bidding goodbye to Bega Falls.

We hurriedly went back to Poblacion aboard the motorcycle. I still needed to travel to Compostela Valley then spend the night in Tagum City to complete my itinerary. Yes, you read that right. I was able to cover four provinces in less than 24 hours that day. Boy was I really exhausted. Jerome asked me how much I paid the tricycle driver from the town proper after taking me to the barangay that morning. When he learned that I paid a huge amount, he said he‘d just take me to the integrated terminal. I never really get pissed off at people who take advantage of tourists, like that tricycle driver. Karma’s a bitch after all. When we reached the town center, I paid Jerome and Archie and thanked them for everything.
